Dearest Brittany,

There are not enough words to express how much gratitude we have to you for bringing baby Isaac Benjamin into our lives. Only a year ago, we were devastated with grief thinking that we may never have a family of our own and now, we are overjoyed to be given the opportunity to raise such a beautiful and adorable baby boy. Thank you for choosing us and for believing in us, we promise to love Isaac unconditionally – we already do!

Right from day one, we’ve appreciated how you involved us in your pregnancy and kept us in the loop, and who ever thought that we would be right at your side to witness the birth of our child, wow! It has been a blessing to build a special bond with you these past couple of weeks and to truly learn what an amazing human being you are. Isaac will always know that his mama loves him, so much that you chose to place him with us. This is just the beginning of a very long relationship…

It's go time!

I'm a Dad! Well, almost. Carlos and I are (hopefully) at the tail end of our adoption journey. I can go into all of the traumatic details from July 2020, but let's save that for another time shall we?  Eight days ago I woke up to Winnie's barking, as per her usual 'let me out of my play-pen I need to go potty' at 5:50am, only to find a text message from Brittany from 1:21am telling me that her water broke, but she's fine. After letting Winnie outside, I wake up Carlos from a dream he's having and let him know the news.  Well, fast forward twelve hours and we are in our car, Eleven, for a three hour drive to Edmonton to meet Brittany, Grandma and hopefully our soon to be born baby. The events to follow were pure joy and fright, all in a span of 60 seconds. After hours of sitting in Brittany's room getting to know her and Grandma, the labour finally started at 2:36am. Miss Autumn

  As of today, we have been in Edmonton two full weeks. Isaac continues to get better and better each day. We are hoping that by today, he will be on a 'demand' feeding schedule, which means that he can eat whenever he wants to. If he hasn't show any hunger signs within 4 hours, then we will feed him. As the doctor calls it, 'suck or starve'.  Once he starts this new feeding schedule and shows that he can gain some weight, we are home free! I can't wait to go home and start our new life with baby Isaac.  I also can't wait to go home and see our two baby girls, Autumn and Winnie. In particular, I really miss my baby girl Autumn. We picked up Autumn from her breeder's home almost 12 months ago. She was a gift from the universe. I always say that Autumn was the universe's way of saying "I'm sorry" for what happened with Reese (our baby that we only had for one day before returning to her birth mom).
